Internships, Scholarships, and Apprentices
Empowering the future of Landscape Experts through training
We pride ourselves in fostering the development of students interested in pursuing a lifelong career in the green industry and show our commitment by offering a variety of internships and scholarships that create a pathway to apprenticeship and full-time employment.
Ideal applicants are hard-working, flexible, and motivated individuals. Most interns will rotate through each department, getting exposure to all facets of our business - both in the office and out in the field.
Landscape Field Services Internships
Landscape Field Services interns will be integral members of the team during our summer season and will learn how to safely use equipment, gain hands-on experience both maintaining and building landscapes, prepare conceptual designs, assist in the management of client relations, help with project estimating, and much more. They’ll work alongside experienced professionals who have been in the industry for decades.
Interns will gain hands-on experience by rotating through departments, including residential maintenance, commercial maintenance, design, construction, and irrigation.
Our experienced crew leaders and designers will introduce interns to the complexities of proper landscape installation and maintenance. Interns will learn how to install and maintain annuals, a variety of woody plant materials, and turf. They also may have involvement with the installation of patios, water features, outdoor kitchens, and other living spaces. In essence, they learn how to bring conceptual designs to life.
Specifically, Landscape Field Services interns learn how to:
-
Create base maps in AutoCAD
-
Complete site surveys
-
Assist Landscape Architects with various duties, from conceptual designs to final plans
-
Assist foremen and crews with maintenance and construction operations
-

-
Assist with plant material acquisition, job staging, and care
-
Support account managers
-
Assist with preparation of proposals
-
Ride along with irrigation technicians and assist with the operation, inspection, and repair of irrigation systems
Continuing Your Professional Journey with LID Landscapes
Once interns successfully complete a seasonal internship, we discuss future opportunities with the company based on their performance and stage in education. These include scholarships, future internships, and Management Associate positions.
Exceptional interns are either offered a Management Associate position upon completion of their final year in school or they may be offered a scholarship or future internship opportunity that more closely fits their desired area of focus.
After several years as a Management Associate, the ultimate objective is to grow their responsibilities in line with the company's growth in order to shift them into roles that benefit from knowing how our company operates.
To date, we have trained and mentored over 120 young industry professionals, many of which are still with the company - including vice presidents.
